BISMARCK YOUTH BASEBALL UMPIRES - JOB DESCRIPTION 

Title:                 Bismarck Youth Baseball Umpire

Schedule          Full Time (3-4 nights per week) – League Games – 5:00-9:00pm (Mon-Thurs)

                                                                          Travel Games – TBD (weekends and weekdays)

                        *We will also be looking for sub umpires to fill in for full time umpires

Pay:                  $50 per double header League Games    -   $50 per game Travel Game

Supervisor:       You will work as an independent contractor under the supervision of the Umpire Coordinator from Bismarck Youth Baseball

Job Summary:   You will be responsible for umpiring 11–12-year-old games from behind home plate.  There will be a volunteer umpire from one of the participating teams at each game.  You are expected to work with the volunteer to assure the game runs smooth and all rules are followed.

Duties:

  • Umpires are expected to be at the designated field no later than 20 minutes prior to game time to ensure you are ready to go right at the allocated time.  There is a time limit for each game so it is imperative that the games start on time.
  • Each Umpire will be issued an “Umpire Bag” for the season.  They will be responsible to make sure it is returned to the Umpire Room at the Scheels complex after each night’s games are over.
  • Attend the pre-season mandatory Umpire Meeting and any other meeting scheduled be the Umpire Coordinator throughout the season.
  • Represent Bismarck Youth Baseball in a professional manner
  • Report to work on time and when scheduled.  Absences will not be tolerated.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have knowledge of the rules of baseball
  • Ability to communicate to fellow Umpires, Volunteers, and Coaches.
  • Position will require understanding of working with youth.
  • Availability from May to August.  Schedule will vary and is flexible.
  • Prior Umpiring experience preferred but not required. 
  • Able to stand for three to four hours at a time.

Timeframe:       Beginning on or about May 16, 2022 / Ending on or about August 5, 2022
